Looking at the manual entry for brc it say's:..." and loads any programmable micro-processors with their appropriate scripts." Can someone tell me in which manual it talks about these "programmable micro-processors" and "scripts" ? Also the powerfail script executes a /etc/dasetup. I can't find anything on it in the manual either. Anyone know anything about it ? jim sadler 206-234-9009 email uunet!bcstec!jsadler|root | hplabs!hpubvwa!b-mrda!jim

I don't know much about dasetup except that it downloads the file /etc/UMUX.download into the microprocessor on each 6-channel multiplexer configured into the kernel. You will find it not only in /etc/powerfail, but also /etc/inittab (on Series 800). I suppose this does sound a bit like the "micro-processors" and "scripts" in the brc man page description... >jim sadler #include <disclaimer.h> Mark Fresolone

> Looking at the manual entry for brc it say's:..." and loads any > programmable micro-processors with their appropriate scripts." This is intentionally a general statement, so as new hardware is supported we don't have to go back and change the manual. Read /etc/brc for specifics. > Can someone tell me in which manual it talks about these "programmable > micro-processors" and "scripts" ? One of the Series 300's optional Floating Point Accellerators has to have some microcode downloaded at boot time. The "script" is the microcode. I would look in the manual shipped with the FPA to find documentation. Rob Robason
