[comp.sys.hp] "Modem Enable" switch on an HP9000/319

pda@litp.ibp.fr (Pierre DAVID) (01/09/90)

I have not been able to find in the documentation of the HP9000/319
(HP-UX 6.5) what is the exact purpose of the "modem enable" switch
located at the rear of the CPU box.

Could someone help me with this problem ?

Thanks in advance,

P.S. : as you may guess, my problem is to connect a modem on the
serial port...

That switch, which is present on all Series 200 and 300 computers, sets
sensed lines DSR, CD, RI and CTS to "true" (active low) in the "disable"
position, and connects them to their respective driver circuits in the
"enable" position.

Then you want the "enable" position.
