[comp.sys.hp] g++ on Hp

pavi@rootbeer.eng.ohio-state.edu (Pavithran Thomas) (02/12/90)

Has anybody managed to get g++ working on a HP machine? I've been trying it
on a hp9k320 and am getting nowhere. I'd appreciate any pointers anybody might
have - very much!

     As of version 1.36.2 (the last one I tried -- the current version
is 1.36.4), g++ worked fine on HP S300 machines, if you configure it as
"hp9k320g" (NOTE the "g" -- I don't think it makes much sense to compile
it otherwise, as you then cannot run a debugger on your code). This
requires the use of GNU as, GNU ar, GNU ld, GNU ranlib, etc., etc..

     Exactly what problems are you having?

I have g++ 1.36.1 Working on tghe HP9000/340 (HP/UX 6.5) with the native
assembler and loader (thus no debugging). But others have that done too. I
don't think it is available on the 800 series.
