[comp.sys.hp] Formatting HP4145A diskettes

gan@mit-caf.MIT.EDU (Chock Gan) (02/28/90)

We have a HP4145A semiconductor parameter analyzer that requires a formatted
system disk in its disk drive to run. It is able to store data collected
into the diskette as well as store the settings of the machine. Trouble is
the system files take up quite a bit of disk space and leaves very little
room for collection of data points. Extra system disks from HP cost like $15
a piece and is way too expensive to keep buying extra formatted disketts
from HP. We need the data for printouts.
Short of sending data points through the HPIB bus to another computer (
takes up too much time to do that ), does anyone know how to format a
diskette for the HP4145A machine on maybe a HP9000 computer system so that
the HP4145 can read the diskette just for storing data points?

Any help will be much appreciated.
