Hello from New Zealand! I just started work with HP NZ, and found that they don't have a USEnet connection here. I've been told that HP run their own Internet-style network on X.25, and i'd like to hook New Zealand up to it. I've spoken with our MIS manager, who says there's a bit of spare capacity on the X.25 link to Australia which runs HP DESK, and he seems amenable to the idea of running TCP/IP over it as well. Now the bad news. We don't have a spare HP/UX system that I can call my own. The one HP9000 we have in our office is somewhat dual in nature, since sometimes it runs MPE and sometimes HP/UX. Instead, I've been given an RS/25C, and told that I can install SCO UNIX on it, and might get a modem if I'm lucky. The MIS manager also hinted at feeding X.25 directly to me as well. So, the question is what tools do I need to hook into the network (e.g. Conv?) from a 386 box with SCUNIX (Skew-nix), given X.25? Obviously some form of SMTP too is needed. I can port rn and C-news, but I believe HP might use notes??? Perceptive and witty comments may be directed to me in e-mail, or if you're feeling lucky, via HP DESK. Advice on where I can get some nice software to play with would be helpful too. I plan to pull the comp.sys.hp feed in via UUCP and a modem from the local public-access system (Actrix), but i'd really like ftp access, and i'm sure there are some nice archives out there in HP.COM. Thanks in advance, Paul Gillingwater -- Paul Gillingwater, paul@actrix.co.nz
