[comp.sys.hp] Telebit T2500 <-> HP 9000/825

wwm@pmsmam.uucp (Bill Meahan) (03/08/90)

I know this was posted last year but, darn it!, I didn't save a copy.

What is the correct cabling for connecting a Telebit (T2500) to a
6-channel MUX on an 825? (MUX is HP98196A aka 27140A).

Thanks!

The pin-outs on the 27140A MUX are dual-function DCE/DTE. They are wired to
look like a DCE, with the missing DTE functions on otherwise unused pins.

For direct connection of DTE devices (e.g.terminals, printers, etc.), you
use a 1-1...25-25 straight-thru cable, such as an HP 40242M.

For connection of DCE devices (e.g.modems), you need a special cable that
brings the hidden pins to life. It is ordered as product number 92219Q.

If you want to make your own cable, I suspect someone can post the pinouts.
I can't find my copy from the last time this came up....

     The pinouts for the 92219Q cable are:

	   CPU                                         Peripheral
         25 Pin M                                      25 Pin M

	    1  ------------------------------------------  1
	    2  <-----------------------------------------  3
	    3  ----------------------------------------->  2
	    4  <-----------------------------------------  8
	    6  -----------------------------------------> 20
	    7  <---------------------------------------->  7
	    8  ----------------------------------------->  4
	    9  <----------------------------------------- 22
           20  <-----------------------------------------  6
	   22  <-----------------------------------------  5
	   23  -----------------------------------------> 23

      Of course, all disclaimers apply: the one that is guaranteed
      to work costs $55.00.
