Hi, after many long nights I got dump and rdump working on my hp's.
Of course you will need a version of rrestore too, since somehow 
I cannot read my dump tapes on any other machines than the hp's!
[The hp supplied version of dump also makes tapes unusable on other
 machines, so I suspect there is something different in the filesystem/
 inode data structures]

If anybody else is interested I can put my patches against the 4.3
dump/restore for anonymous ftp somewhere. 
[I think the dump/restore sources have not been cleared from berkeley]

rdump is in the KERN_SUPL fileset on 7.0.  I don't remember if it was in
previous releases.

Rdump is profived with 7.0 in the /etc/directory.
