In article <NIERMANN.90Mar5154339@grumpy.csg.uiuc.edu> you write: >I am having problems doing backups over a network. >I have a HP 9000/300 Hpux6.5 and want to use rdump for backups over a network. >The network consists mostly of suns. > >Is there a version of rdump that runs with 6.5 or is the rdump command >included with 7.0? > >THanks > >niermann@csg.uiuc.edu Hi, after many long nights I got dump and rdump working on my hp's. Of course you will need a version of rrestore too, since somehow I cannot read my dump tapes on any other machines than the hp's! [The hp supplied version of dump also makes tapes unusable on other machines, so I suspect there is something different in the filesystem/ inode data structures] If anybody else is interested I can put my patches against the 4.3 dump/restore for anonymous ftp somewhere. [I think the dump/restore sources have not been cleared from berkeley] christos -- _____________________________________________________________________ | ARPA: christos@ee.cornell.edu | | UUCP: {cmc12,shasta,uw-beaver,rochester}!cornell!tesla!christos | ---------------------------------------------------------------------
