If anyone in Netville has built gdb version 3.4 for an HP9000/370 under HP-UX v6.5, please contact me. I'd like to find out what you did to get it to work. gdb builds just fine (using the hp9k320 profile) on our system. It loads the exec-file, but claims the exec-file has no symbols. HP uses a symbol table format gdb doesn't understand. To use gdb under hp-ux, you'll need to build gcc, gasm, gnu ld, nm, etc., and use their coff-encapsulation package. The last time I tried, I couldn't get gcc 1.35 to build. That was especially frustrating since the other stuff appeared to work and gcc has worked for me in the past. Some of the doc files indicate that complete instructions for using and installing gdb, gcc, etc. under hp-ux will be included at some time in the future, but they weren't there the last time I looked.
