Greetings- I'm thinking of doing my HP 9000/370 system backups to our spiffy new HP read/write 300M-per-side optical disk. My first thought is to use the dump command, and lie to it about the length of my tape. A couple of quick calculations indicate that a length of 5230 feet at 6250 bpi might do the trick. Has anyone else out there tried doing their backups to this device? If so, how did you do it, and how well did it work?
