[comp.sys.hp] scsi cables

steve@quonset.cfht.hawaii.edu (Steven Smith) (04/15/90)

We have a HP98265A scsi card for our HP9000 350, and various
scsi devices, including a Perfect Byte EXB-8200.
The problem is that the devices have DB 50 pin connectors
and the HP interface has another type (phone company style?).

A call to the local HP rep. yielded the following:
a) there are two types of connectors, alternative 1 (the DB 50?)
and alternative 2 (the hp/phone style?)
b) there are single ended and double ended scsi devices, and they dislike
   each other.
c) HP only sells cables for HP scsi devices, which are all (of course)
   HP type connectors.

So, has anyone out there connected "standard" scsi devices to an HP?
If so, any information on problems, cable suppliers or other considerations
would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
steve
