If anyone is interested, I have a HPUX version of Steve Grimm's comsat/biff package. It's better than the stock BSD version: you can monitor mailboxes on remote machines, and it only drops messages in the window(s) you ask it to. Comsat/biff notifies you about incoming mail by blasting the first four lines of the mail onto your terminal, along with a few beeps. The package has been running successfully on both 300 and 800 series machines here for over a year. The "remote monitor" facility has not been tested as thoroughly. I will shar the files (about 100k worth) and mail them to anyone interested. --- mitch trott@dolores.stanford.edu

Well, I *was* (and still am) interested and I got it from Mitch already. I checked with him and Steven Grimm whether or not they had any objections on making it available for anonymous FTP; they hadn't. So, if you want it, here are the details: ** Anonymous FTP Site: sol.cs.ruu.nl [131.211.80.5] File: pub/HP-UX/biff.tar.Z ** Mail Server Send a message to "mail-server@cs.ruu.nl" containing in the body the lines: send HP-UX/biff.tar.Z end For more info about the mail-server, send it a message containing: send HELP end That's all folks, enjoy! --[ Edwin ]-- -- Edwin Kremer (SysAdm), Dept. of Computer Science, Utrecht University Padualaan 14, P.O.
