<Bug food>
I have been asked to locate accounting software for a propane
company in Illinois. Here are the details:
1) It should run on a micro computer, actual brand
undetermined as of yet. IBM PC/XT's are a likely
choice at this point.
2) The package should be able to handle:
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
General Ledger
Inventory Control
Payroll
3) They are interested in buying 32 copies of the
software, preferably as one package and not 32
individual units.
4) The general idea has each plant running the package
on site and then mailing a disk into the central
office where all 32 reports will be merged into
one comprehensive report. This means that the software
should be able to merge similar (identical?) reports.
Eventually they will (I hope!) go to modems to transfer
the reports, but that is another story.
5) If there is a specific product designed FOR propane/oil/etc
companies then that is what they are after. Non-specific
software is still of interest.
6) Suggestions such as buying one VAX and giving each site
a remote terminal *might* be of interest, but remember
that these sites are spread across several hundred miles
and the phone company would start taking a large cut.
7) They seem to be willing to accept anything that works,
within reason, so be creative. Price does not seem to
be much of an object.
8) I'm doing this survey for free for a friend, I am not
pawning off consulting questions on the net and reaping
the benefits.
Please MAIL replies. I will post results to the net if there seems
to be enough interest. Thanks in advance.
