My roomate recently acquired an HP-150 and would like to know if a a communications package such as Kermit is available for it. He currently has no means for downloading software other than through the old sssd 3.5' drives that come with the machine. Unfortunalely, the terminal emulator which came with the system doesn't seem even capable of screen capture, so even that won't work. Any info. of where we could locate a copy of kermit or some other package (on a hp-disk) would be greatly appreciated. I know that HP hasn't built these in a while, but I'm hoping that there still might be some old software floating around. One other is called MH-BBS which is a simple program to give the 150 xmodem, logging and some programmable function key functions. All the others that I know of are commercial and are most likely unavailable except second-hand. t( A caveat regarding Kermit: There's a generic MSDOS version in circulation that misbehaves on the 150. Your best bet is to get the HP-150 versio of the ASM source from Columbia University. There's lots of software around. One jut has to look a bit harder for it. Many MSDOS programs also work, like PKZIP & PKFIND, ZOO, ARC (as well as PKARC) and some others that I can't recall offhand. PKZIP, BTW, works at least twice as fast on the 150 as it does on an IBM PC or XT. MASM5.1, MSC, MS-Pascal also run on the 150, if you want to do programming stuff. Send me your postal address & I'll send you some disks with some goodies. jd (pardon my noise - Pa Bell is miffed at me agin! ) -- J.
