We have half a dozen of (diskless) HP9000/318 workstations that are beginning to feel, well, awfully low-performance. I have read about the "Xkernel" that turns a Sun 3/50 into an X terminal, more or less. Now I wonder if anybody has done something similar for the HP9000/318? Or is this really very simple? What if I build a really minimal HP-UX kernel, and start only the X server in /etc/inittab? Would this give me better X performance? I will try this when I get to work tomorrow, and post the results. -- Tor Lillqvist, working, but not speaking, for the Technical Research Centre of Finland
