I'm working with HP Vectra ES/12 and I need to install software that needs 639K in main memory but DOS just recognizes 636K How can I make that DOS recognizes 639K? Thank's.

Re: the need for 639K of base memory on a Vectra ES/12. (The problem is the same on every Vectra I've seen, including RS and QS models.) The problem is that the top 4K of the base 640 is used for an extended BIOS. It is possible to turn off this extended BIOS, but you then lose the use of HP-IL devices (i.e., the HP Mouse). (I'm not sure what else, if anything, you lose when you do this.) You can turn off the EXBIOS from SETUP from the screen you get to by typing "YADA" at the main menu. Run setup and type 'yada'. This will give you an extended menu. Disable the extended bios(which also disables the HP-HIL mouse). You will then have your full 640K or memory. Eric Ross ericr@vcd.hp.com
