[comp.sys.hp] Compatibility hpux 3.1 - 7.0

I had to install a software on several HP machines, and got a problem
when using files through NFS. The configuration is the following:
    - system A: HP 9000/855 running HP-UX 3.1
    - system B: HP 9000/835 running HP-UX 7.0
    - system A mount a partition P from system B
When I tried to access some files on partition P from system 855, I got errors.
But the same program (binary) works well on system 835. It has been compiled
on system 855. The files were created by the same program which was compiled
and run on system 835.
I tried to copy files from P (on system 855) to a local partition with "tar":
on each file I had previously problems, tar complains with "file changed size" !
I have also heard that Ingres works either on the 835 or on the 855 with
HP-UX 3.1, but only on the 835 with HP-UX 7.0 !! (only the logins "root" and
"ingres" were able to use it on the 855).
Has anyone had a similar problem ? Or has a suggestion ?
