PROBLEM: Emacs 18.55 runs fine within an Xterm, but goes into a infinite loop and core dumps when running in its own X window after the first keyboard press or mouse click. I compiled it with XDEBUG and sometimes the string XTread_socket is continually repeated until the inevitable bus error, but not always. The bus error occurs after virtual memory is exhausted. I am running X11 patch 18, standard MIT, standard Emacs 18.55, no default.el, no .emacs, no site.el. I have no problems with this Emacs compiled on a SUN3 with SunOS 4.0.1. I tried the patch about TIOCSIGSEND with no luck. What is my obvious mistake? Pleeze help needed! Any pointers will gratefully be dereferenced. I've been running the X11R3 supplied with HP-UX 7.0, standard Emacs
18.55, and the Emacs running on a HP9000/845 and using an Apollo
DN3500 as a display, there's no problem. Everything works fine with
both no local definitions and my "full" .emacs stuff.
I have heard of problems on Series 300 - are you perhaps running on
one of those?
