I'm having all sorts of problems implementing GNU software on our HP9000 (500 series) running HP-UX 05.11 B. I have succesfully implemeted the GNU diff, grep and awk, but am failing with the fileutils, binutils and gcc. I've yet to attack gas and and any other utilities. My question is, has anyone already implemented these programs on the HP9000 500 series? If so I'd appreciate some advice and/or help with my problems. It seems many of these utilities are already working on the 300 and 800 series, but alas the poor 500. No doubt I can and will be a little more specific about the problems if I get a response. When I was interested in GNU Emacs for the 500, the big problems were little-endian versus big-endian and getting a suitable alloca(). My "solution" was to use JOVE until I could switch to an 800.
