[comp.sys.hp] mailx lists daemon as sender

josip@ra.src.umd.edu (Josip Loncaric) (08/23/90)

We are using HP 9000/800 machines (HP-UX 7.0) in an environment which
includes Suns and other UNIX machines. The command "mailx -f mbox"
reads the mbox, but it attributes all mail received over internet as
messages sent by "daemon". This is clearly wrong, although the first
line of each message says "From daemon ..." since daemon was the last
delivery agent. The real sender of the message, which is listed on
the last "From: user@host" line in the message, is unrecognized by mailx.

Question: is this behavior normal? How can I fix it?
