A recent endeavor of mine has been to upgrade the HP 150 version
of MS-DOS Kermit 2.29 to the 3.02 version. As part of this upgrade,
I have made a number of enhancements in HP 150 specific code:
(a) The application softkeys are programmed so common commands
can be performed in connect mode by pressing the
appropriate function key.
(b) The firmware Tektronix emulator can be entered either by
pressing f1 in connect mode or with the standard auto-entry
commands (see msvhp1.hlp).
(c) For DOS versions greater than 2.01, the firmware terminal
emulator can be entered by pressing f3 in connect mode.
(d) Set baud now works.
(e) Maximum speed without flow control is greater than
2400 baud.
Many thanks are due to Prof. Joe Doupnik of Utah State Univversity
for his considerable contributions to MS-DOS Kermit. Without his
efforts this version of Kermit for the HP 150 (and a number of
earlier versions) would not be possible. I also thank unknown
authors of previous versions of HP 150 Kermit whose code is an
integral part of the latest version. Code to program to firmware
was taken from programs on Compuserve which were written by Frank
Heartney.
Kermit version 3.02 for the HP 150 should soon be available from
the Kermit files at Columbia University. In the meantime, I will be
happy to supply this program to the interested. Some ways in which
I can deliver the program:
(1) Email the uuencoded binary or the ascii boo file.
(2) Send me a formated disc and stamped return mailer. Any HP 150 disc
format is ok (single, double sided HP, IBM 720 K).
(3) Send me $3.00 and your address. I will then furnish the disc and
mail it to you. Let me know which format you need.
I will appreciate your comments. In particular, please let me know
of any problems you encounter so I can fix them.
