[comp.sys.hp] routed on HP-UX

karrer@ethz.UUCP (Andreas Karrer) (10/18/90)

we are having problems with a HP-9000-835 that is supposed to act as
a router (2 ethernet interfaces) in our 800+ nodes internetwork. as
far as i can see, there is no "routed" on HP-UX 7.00. we need some
means to update the routing tables dynamically (not with route(1m)),
i.e. what is /etc/in.routed on suns and /etc/routed on most bsd systems.

any clues?

please email, i don't read comp.sys.hp regularly.

I will reply in notes, as well as mail directly...

As of 7.0, HP is supplying gated (from Cornell) which includes RIP, HELLO
and EGP. Basically, it is the same as routed plus more. You can see
how to use it by looking at the gated(1M) man page, also in
/etc/newconfig/gated is more information including example config
files.
