I'm running HP-VUE under HP-UX 7.0.3 on a HP400s with a 98736 graphics adaptor and 16mb memory. When I run X either in overlay mode (/dev/o4crt) or combined mode (/dev/o4crt /dev/crt depth 24 doublebuffer). I have a serious problem with hpterm windows. It seems like the first hpterm window that comes up runs fine (most of the time) while all others have VERY slow cursor and text movement. After typing "clear" in an hpterm window you can watch as it "paints" the window blank - taking almost 2 seconds to complete. Also, you can see the cursor blink as it moves (probably because everything is going so slow). The cursor even blinks when you first set input focus into the window (normally it only blinks when you click in a window that already has input focus). Another side effect is that the Korn Shell running in one of these screwed windows will let you back up over the prompt which it normally doesn't do. I've tried everything I can to pinpoint this problem. It goes away if I run X completely in the image planes (/dev/crt). It will also go away if I delete my .vue directory and start over from scratch, but it eventually comes back. Anybody else seen this ? If so, have you found a workaround. -- Rob Gabbard (uunet!sdrc!evgabb) Technical Development Engineer Structural Dynamics Research Corp
