Interesting. In pre-loaded UX, for some reason when an hpterm or xterm is killed by the SHIFT-CTRL-RESET exit for X, the process logout is not recorded in the wtmp file. The process is killed (ps -ef does not list it) but a finger or rusers will still list the user logged in. Odd. In case anybody is interested, I resolved the sendmail.cf problem where sendmail does not use the YP hosts table. Normal HP config of the YP (quite rightly) tells you to only put in the IP address of your machine and the YP server in the local hosts table. Of course, if sendmail doesn't use YP, then it has a VERY limited list of mail hosts :-). The first pass at the problem had the hosts file specification be an NFS file from the YP server, but that had problems when the YP server was down. The second solution was better, if still a bit crude: I changed my sendmail.cf file to forward unresolved mail to the YP server, avoiding the problem. Of course, this would be a pain on a large network, but... PS> To the nice HP gentleman who responded to my bug report by saying that he did not know what I was saying: I cordially invite you to visit the Labs here in Baltimore to have an on-site demonstration of the listed bugs. Demonstrations on why Suns have the sales advantage over HP, and why, can also be arranged :-) Free advice to HP: Shoot your marketing types.
