[comp.sys.hp] Advlink/Lan problem

bollard@hpspkla.spk.hp.com (Lee M. Bollard) (11/06/90)

I just got a copy of AdvanceLink for Windows/Text and haven't been able
to log on to the local HP3000 via a LAN connection (AdvanceNet). I do
this all the time with the DOS version of AdvanceLink. It looks like the
program SHOULD be able to log on via AdvanceNet.

Is this a known problem?

Yes. If you are running Advlink for Windows under Windows/3, then you'll find
that you cannot use the lan connection in 386 enhanced mode or standard mode.
You can only use BAPI, ADVNET, etc. (any lan connection) in real mode (WIN /R).

AdvanceLink for Windows/Text, A.01.30, the latest, does not do it either.
Unoffically, it will never do it so don't hold your breath.

Rumor has it that a new product may eventually find it's way out that can do
all of everything you ever wanted. But don't quote me or ask for details
cause I won't reply to them.

These are only my opinions. And even I don't listen to them.
