At Massey University, we have an extensive ethernet (802.3) and have started networking PC's to our HP3000 minicomputers using NS on the HP3000's and NS for Dos 2.0 on the PC's. We have a CISCO router in the network seperating the HP3000's from the rest of the net. Up until now, all the PC's have been on the HP3000 side of the router and everything works just fine. We have now installed our first PC on the 'other' side of the router, and that PC is not able to connect to the HP3000's using the probe request. HP Response has indicated various options such as a probe proxy server or using Lan Manager on PC which would involve the installation of more software and/or hardware. We are planning to partition the network into 8 sub nets in the near future. Has any one solved the problem of using probe across a cisco router? How can we handle sub netting given that a pyramid may also be routing traffic on 2 of the subnets? -- Stephen K Quinn S.K.Quinn@massey.ac.nz MIS Phone (063) 505062 Massey University Fax (063) 505603
