I've been unsuccessful in getting a "diskless" 9000/350 to recognize the 9144 cartridge tape drive. We're running HP-UX 7.0. Anyone know if "it can't be done"? ---- Mark Foster CIS Research Computing Univ of Pennsylvania mark@cis.upenn.edu

What do you mean by "recognize". What are you trying to do? Is the 9144A
connected to the client node or the server? What are you using for
device files? What interface is in use, and what bus addresses? Are the
appropriate drivers configured in?
The only 9144A operation that is known to not work on a cnode is mounting
an HFS-format tape as a file system via the block-mode device file. Raw
access should work. 8.0 will support local HFS mounts.

Please check if the CS80 and HP-IB card drivers are in the cnode's kernel, or just try dfile.cnodemax. Thomas
