I'm looking for a good, low cost 2 dimensional drafting package to run on HP 9000/375 workstations. Our drafting people currently use AutoCad on IBM PC compatible computers and would like to upgrade to a more powerful computer. -- Pete Alleman pja@ralph.lafayette.la.us

However, AutoCAD does run on the DOMAIN operating and would work on 2500/3500/4500 Apollo systems. AUTODESK didn't know whether it would also work on the new Series 400 hardware running DOMAIN, but I believe it should. Another source of potential programs is the "HP-UX and Apollo DOMAIN Solutions Catalog", p/n 5952-2297D. There are several programs listed under the "Mechanical Engineering" section. Your local HP sales office should be able to supply you with a copy. +------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Bruce Hauge EMAIL: bruceh@cv.hp.com | | HEWLETT-PACKARD | | Northwest IC Division PHONE: (503) 750-2675 | | 1020 NE Circle Blvd. | | Corvallis, OR 97330 | +------------------------------------------------------------------------+

How about Hewlett Packards own design and drafting package called HP ME10. It runs on the HP9000/300 and 400 series workstations. We also have a DOS version called ME10d. A person that has used Autocad before is very easily impressed with ME10. Geometry creation is considerably faster and more flexable. It has fully associative dimensions and hatch, and geometric tolerancing cababilities. You can also get variation design capabilites, 2d hidden line capabilities for your assembly drawings and HP's data management system (DMS). There is also an upgrade path from ME10 to ME30, HP's solids modeling system. IGES and DXF translators are also available. The product number for HP ME10 is B1310A.
