We are trying to dispose of some HP equipment. Some restrictions apply
to our transactions, so we cannot sell it directly, however, we can
trade. We would be very interested in gaining some Sun SPARCstation
equipment. Since we are currently not using the HP equipment, we are
willing to accept an unfair trade. Perhaps we can accept such a
significant loss that a trader could purchase Sun equipment, then trade
with us to his advantage.
In addition, would some readers who are familiar with market prices for
used HP workstation equipment please give approximate values for the
hardware?
HP 9000/370
HP 98752A big (19"?) high-res color head
HP 7959S disk drive (250 Mbyte? df -t shows 495324 total blocks)
HP 9145A 32 track cartridge tape drive
HP 9122C diskette drive (one 3.5" drive)
HP-UX 7.0 (If there's a newer revision available, we could probably
pick it up before trading).
HP EE DesignCenter software (likewise)
Full HP docs (about 12 feet of bookshelf -- HP-UX, X Windows, &
DesignCenter)
Thank you for your comments.
Best Regards,
ruck.

Is this what you really mean to be doing? I really mean to dispose of some HP equipment. The equipment does belong to University of Florida. Dr Fred Taylor, my advisor and member of faculty of CS Dept and EE Dept has the authority to approve the disposal (within certain guidelines). I post for the benefit of those who might be concerned about the legitimacy of my offer after seeing Brian's query.
