[comp.sys.hp] SCSI drives on Hewlett Packard 9000/433s and 9000/425t

rcleon@svbs01.bs.win.tue.nl (Leon Oninckx) (12/07/90)

Within a few weeks our new HP9000/433s and 9000/425t machines will arrive.
These machines have a SCSI interface, and we will use Domain/OS as operating
system.
We are considering buying extra disks. I have checked with HP, but their disks
are not very cheap. I have seen an offer from another company offering
HP97459 drives (1GB) for 6500 guilders (~3500 US$) and also HP97548 (663MB)
for 4600 dutch guilders (~2500 US$). I tried to get more info on these Hewlett
Packard disks, but the HP office has not heard about them. Does someone have
any experiences with these? I also would like to hear if there are other
companies offering reliable, good and not too expensive (that's what we all
want, right? :-) ) drives. I heard names like Fujitsu and Wren. Are they
also supported by Domain/OS, or will I be able to use them? For your
information, the above mentioned HP drives come with 5 year factory warranty.
That seems a good deal to me, you don't need hardware support if you have
such a warranty, but why does HP not have info on them? They don't offer those
disks. I will post a summary of the replies if there is interest.
Thanks,

-Leon
