[ I'll see your 635 Mb, and (un)raise you $180 .... ]

We just bought a HP 97548S (663e6 bytes) for $1866 from Schweber Electronics.
They have just changed name to Lex Electronics, and have ~20 locations
througout US (1+800-447-5270 for pointer). They seem to be a heavy-duty
HP distributor; competitive prices and very helpful/competent tech support.

Suggestion: If you call Schweber/Lex, ask for a "Technical Systems
Sales" specialist; else you'll get a chip peddler. In New England,
I recommend dealing with David German (hard `G') @ (508) 694-0937.

(They have 1-800 tech support which can surely assist with integration &
configuration details for HP 9000's; they had the answers for our Sun.)

Tech tidbits: drive spins @4000 rpm for 10+% less latency; also does NOT
use ZBR (zone-bit-record) so FFS optimizations have hope.

   How low-$ can we go ? [ for 5-yr warr., quiet, US-made ]
