I'm looking for a quality printer for my brother's small business. He definitely doesn't want to lay out $1000 for a laser printer however. One solution I've been considering is the HP DeskJet or DeskJet Plus. I'd like to hear comments from experienced users of the DeskJet/DeskJet Plus. Specifically: 1) How close to laser-quality do these ink-jet machines print? I use a 300 dpi laser printer here in the compter center and am pretty happy with it. I've read that these HP printers are supposed to print at this same resolution, but how does the output *look* next to laser print. 2) Is there really any significant differance between the DeskJet and DeskJet Plus which would make the latter much more preferable? 3) Do I really need special cotton-bond paper? How well will regular copier paper work? 3) Price is crucial in this decision. I've located a mail-order vendor who offers the following prices: DeskJet $580 DeskJet Plut $690 For someone who's never bought HP products, these seem like reasonable prices to me. Could I do better somewhere else? Where? Any info / insights you can provide will be greatly apprciated. Please respond by E-mail! News has been really backed-up lately; about a seven day turn-around... don't ask... Thanks. -Tim ============================================================================= = Tim E.
