Dear group, I have using fortran for some time now. However, I have never run into memory limits because my codes normally didn't have a large amount of reserved space. Recently, I have been working on writting graphics on HP 350 and 400's. The graphics is in fortran and is used to see results from CFD work that I am associatted with. In the code that I have been working in on, I try to save a lot of information to save time since it is interactive. It seems that I can't save as much as I would like. I need to find out what limits the size of an array in fortran. Currently I calculated that the arrays that I have common'ed contain about 2 Meg, and the executable is about 1 Meg. The HP 400s that I am working on has 32 Meg of memory. On the 350, before we had the 400's I thought it was that memory that limited me, because it only had 8 Meg. I figured my code plus overhead of starbase would fill it up. However, now I must wonder about the 32 Meg. I am also as close to the system administrator as we have, that's not very close. Most of the operating parameters are greek to me. However, if it is kernel changes that need to be made I would appreciate the names of the parameters, I think I can work from there. Or, if there are some other limits I would appreciate any info. Thanks again. Responses can be posted here are emailed to: hender@uicfdc.aae.uiuc.edu Todd Henderson UI CFD Lab.
