[comp.sys.hp] HP/3000 -> Unix via tape

NIBMSCM@NDSUVM1.BITNET (12/31/90)

  Any help would be appreciated... I've got a couple HP/3000 systems
and have begun working with some Unix systems. Have a requirement to
get tape files from the HP/3000 to the Unix system (SUN). Anyone out there
have some nice utilities/suggestions for making this easy?
  Thanks again...

What type of tapes do you have? ANSI labeled tapes? STORE/RESTORE?
Unlabeled tapes with FIXED, VARIABLE, or UNDEFINED records?

In the labs here before we got our network working and could use DSCOPY,
we wrote CPIO tapes on MPE. I've heard of a program to read STORE tapes
on HP-UX but never used it because of naming convention conflicts.

I'm not sure if this would solve your problems or where these programs
are.
