We have a S6300 model 650/A Magneto-optical drive installed in
our 9000/375 sytem running HP-UX 7.0 and I would like to see responses
to the following two questions:
a) What are the prefered methods for getting hi throughput backups
written to the raw 650/A device? Right now I am using ftio with a
large block size and am only coming up with between 90KB and 100KB per
second out to the MO. This seems to be slow for a device rated to
write above 300KB per second.
b) I have been experiencing intermitant system problems while doing
backups to the MO disk. The system *appears* to corrupt swap space
while I am doing a backup to the MO disk and the rest of the system is
under fairly high loading. We are using a 660MB SCSI disk as our
root filesystem and it is on the same SCSI bus as the MO. Is anyone
else experiencing problems with this configuration?
The 'April 16 SCSI Driver Patch' has been applied to our kernel.
