[comp.sys.hp] Accessing the white keys on 46021A keyboards

dlumby@axion.bt.co.uk (Dave Lumby) (01/17/91)

We've just taken delivery of a HP 9000/433s and several HP 9000/400d
machines. All the monitors have 46021A type keyboards.

Having used DEC equipment for several years now, I feel a little naked with
the limited number of function keys on the HP keyboard.

Is there any way of making the Clear Line, Clear Display, Insert Line,
Delete Line, Insert Char, Delete Char and User/System keys generate the sort
of sequences that my old favorite DEC VT200 keyboard used to generate?

I would like (within an Xterm window) to be able to generate sequences such as
ESC [ 4 ~
ESC [ 2 8 ~
etc

I assume that I'll probably need to do something with xmodmap and/or Key
Translations in Xterm but I don't really know how to proceed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just in case it makes any difference we're running HP/UX 7.03 with X11R4.
