I am working on a Honeywell DPS-6 processor and am trying to do (from a high level language or assembly) immediate I/O to a modem which is connected to the machine (not Listener-monitored). I want to do some relatively simply I/O, and it doesn't seem to be working. Since the system buffers, any characters I write won't be flushed until I send a CR, but in cases I don't want a CR at all. If I close the device, it flushes OK, but I believe it's either inserting a CR, or adding something extra to the output character stream. Is it possible that it's sending "DEL"s (ASCII 7F)? If so, how can I turn them off? I'm trying to use a D.C. Hayes Smartmodem, and I can't interrupt it by sending it "+++" without a carriage-return, or whatever else might be getting in the way. If anyone knows anything about this system, or has tried to do the same type thing, I'd really appreciate the information. Please respond via email.
