Subject line says it all, however some more details... We have a hp 9000/835 workstation running hpux 7.0 + a mixture of suns, vaxen etc... all running variants of Berkeley UNIX I would like to run the berkeley line printer system on our HP machine, so that it can... 1) accept print jobs from other machines to print on its own printer. 2) send print jobs to printers on the suns, vaxen etc... I have already tried using a set of patches supplied by Dave Rand <dlr@daver.bungi.com> for porting the berkeley printer system onto system 5 machines (actually 386/ix), however the resulting system does not work properly under hpux. So... Does anyone have a working version of the berkeley printer system running under hpux??? Keith --- K. M. HPUX will spool and accept print requests from BSD systems. The /usr/lib/rlpdeamon performs the remote receiving functionality of BSD's lpd and the rmodel model script in /usr/spool/lp/model uses /usr/lib/rlp to send remote requests to both other HPUX and BSD systems. Use SAM to install a remote printer and answer yes to the question concernig BSD printers. Check out the man pages for the commands listed above. Also check the list of BSD options specified in the lp man page. Hope this helps, Bob Lienhart

As well as the lpr script which emulates lpr. However, one can compile the BSD lpr package, provided one is willing to put together the right /etc/printcap file to replace the sripts in /usr/spool/lp/model ...
