[comp.sys.hp] third-party disks

Does anybody has already installed an 1.2 GB Wren VII disk from
seagate, and can give me the corresponding disktab entry.

Thank you very much for your help.

I believe the Wren VII is one of those variable-geometry disks, which
means you can't describe the geometry correctly. The good news is that
it really doesn't matter. Just make up some reasonable geometry (like
32K/track and 16 track/cyl), and set the number of cylinders to give
something less than the capacity reported by diskinfo. The difference
between the formatted capacity and the ns*nt*nc product is what's available
for swap. If you run into a disk bigger than 1 gig formatted, don't try
using a file system bigger than 1 gig on 7.0 for Series 300/400. The
Wren VII is just under a gig formatted.
