Hi Netguys, Sice we are using mainly BSD-ish UNIX(TM) systems, we encountered some problems connecting SYS-V taste HP-UX boxes with lpr(1) and lpd(8). Is there a PD implementation of lpd:lpq:lprm:lpc:printcap on HP-UX ???? In case the answer is Yes: which archive site / ftp site has this stuff (written in C,perl,sh,csh) ???? Does anybody know if it is possible to use printers connected to hpux machines from BSD systems using lpd protocol ? I know that the contrary is possible, but i would like to print on my local printer from a remote lpd. Thanks for answers. HP-UX releases of 6.5 or later (possibly 6.2) will accept lpd requests from a 4.3 BSD system. The HP-UX system must have rlpdaemon running. The simplest way to do this is to add the following line to your /etc/inetd.conf file and then execute inetd -c to re-read the configuration: printer stream tcp nowait root /usr/lib/rlpdaemon rlpdaemon -i -l There may be other configuration dependencies, depending on how "secure" your system is set up. The set up of this printer on the BSD system must be left to the requestor :-} Bob Lienhart
