I have a disk written on a 630K HP LIF (Logical Interchange Format) disk using an HP4195A Spectrum Analyzer. The disk is a regular 3.5 in 80 tracks 135 tpi floppy. Can I read HP LIF disks on a regular PC 720Kb drive ? If so how many tracks, sectors/track, directory tracks, FAT sectors etc are used? If not is there any way other than reading from the HP-IB of transferring such information to a PC or Mac or Amiga or Sun workstation ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Malcolm Reeves

Try contacting Miles Porter or Roberto Orozco at HP Loveland Colo. Mr. Orozco was, in early 1990 at least, product manager for HPIB interfaces to PCs. They developed a software product "HP E2080A" LIFUTIL to read LIF-to-PC; requires hpib interface to HP's LIF- writing disk drives.... oops... maybe not? scanning prelim manual in not clear. Better to call them.

That's likely to cover the files producted by the SA, but it's possible it writes some file type of its own. You may need to check on whether and how the utility handles that before making a selection. Regards, Steve taylor NOT A STATEMENT, OFFICIAL OR OTHERWISE, OF THE HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY.
