[comp.sys.hp] Info on how to print a tape from an old HP-9830A

marinar@cbnewsi.att.com (marina.l.roesler) (03/18/91)

This is a toughie! I hope someone out there can help me.

I need to get a print out of a program that does some mathematical
calculations for radiotherapy treatment of brain tumors. This program
is written in Basic and is stored in a tape that looks like an audio
cassete tape. The program runs off the tape on a HP 9830A machine
(OLD !) which comes with a built in tape unit.

The reason for this request is the following. Until the HP computer
broke beyond repair, this program was used in a public
hospital in Brasil where poor people with cancer are treated for free.
The hospital's budget is extremely tight and they have no money to buy
computer hardware nor software (this type of software
is usually extremely expensive). So the doctors that use the
program plan to rewrite the software, so that it runs
on some IBM PC which they have access to. They need the listing to
get hold of the mathematical formulas used by the program.

I would appreciate if someone would give me pointers on how to get
the print out they need.

Please reply to me directly at marinar@arch2.att.com.

Thank you for your help!
	Marina.
