Can anyone tell me if there is some way to get a C2203A disc drive to work under HP-UX 3.01 on an 825? << I know it isn't supported, that's not my question :-) >> I have a situation in which a friend has an 825 on 3.01, but never got the 7.0 update. He has now rectified this by ordering support, but it may take 6 weeks or more before he gets his tapes and can have them installed (a number of 3rd party applications must also be updated for 7.0). Meantime, disc space was getting tight, so he obtained a C2203 drive... I know it will work fine on 7.0, but is there any way to get it working NOW? The disktab entry for the 2203 was entered (from a 7.0 system), and it formats properly (no errors), but newfs and mkfs complain that the device doesn't exist. I suspect that the old disc0 driver may not recognize the "new" disc type -- has anyone actually managed to get this working? Any info (quickly please) will be appreciated!
