Has anyone out there had any luck programming the HPIB port on the back of Series 900/300 machine running Hpux 7.0. I've been trying for the last couple of days (doing every thing the manuals tell me to) and it no go. I've managed to send HPIB command to devices on the bus but I cannot read any responses back (like a Digital Multimeter measurement). Is there a trick the book ain't telling me - or does some one know about an example piece of code that *can* talk both ways over the HPIB bus ? Thanks Richard -- ____________________________________________________________________________ | __ | | /_/ -__ /_ _ _ _ __/ /\/\ -// _ | | / \ /(_ / /(_/ / (_/ / ////(~/ |

There is an excellent manual that explains it all: Device I/O Concepts and Tutorials. It has a section on concepts, and routines, explanations and dependecies. There is nothing wrong with the 7.0 DIL routines, and is very widely used, so I have to believe you are making some (hopefully simple) mistake. Keep trying! Paul Perlmutter
