I am a little annoyed at HP at the moment. I discovered today that for the second time the permissions on /users had somehow been changed to give world write permission. The first time it happened I thought it was my own stupidity but the second time I knew it wasn't me. It didn't take long to figure out that it was SAM. Turns out that when ever I create a new user id SAM decides to change the permissions on /users. I figured this was a pretty obvious bug so it couldn't have gotten through HP's software validation so there must be something strange about what I am doing, but know I checked the software status reports and it is a known bug in SAM (SR # 1650140699). What annoyes me is that HP knew about a major bug in SAM which causes the system to become unsecure when ever you use it. I don't think it would be expecting too much for HP to have sent a simple letter telling me about this. After all, I do pay for software support. I don't expect them to do this for every bug that gets reported (they do send software status bulletins eventually) but ones like this can potentially cause real problems for their users if they don't know about them.
