I just got a cute little HP 150 dumped on my desk, which I'm using as a dumb terminal. I mainly got it for the printer, but I was just wondering what other stuff I could do with it. Is there any way to get it to read/write 720K DOS floppies, for example? I have the 9121 disk drive module and an HP Thinkjet printer. Please reply in Email. If you're using RN and it barfs on the followup line, I apologise in advance. I just think this is a relatively low-interest question. I promise to summarise if it seems warranted. -- Peter da Silva. `-_-' peter@ferranti.com +1 713 274 5180. 'U` "Have you hugged your wolf today?"

The 9121 disc drive is a single sided, single density drive that can only read 270kbyte format discs. You need a 9122 disc drive to read 720k format discs. You may also need a newer version of DOS for the HP-150 to support the IBM format. As for what else you can do with it, there were various word processing, spread sheet, data base and other packages released for the HP150. In addition there is some public domain and shareware software available, including a version of Micro Emacs. It is a reasonably useful PC for general office work. It is slow by today's standards but was not when it was released. Most importantly, it is cute as hell. A good/great source of equipment and software for the HP-150 (and 110/Portable+) is: Personalized Software P.O. Box 869 Fairfield, Iowa 52556 (515) 472-6330 For the HP-150 this company has versions of Lotus 1-2-3, Turbo Pascal, WordPerfect, Norton Utilities, project management packages, utilities, games, disc drives, etc. I've always know them to be a reputable company. Disclaimers: I am not affiliated with Personalized Software etc., etc. The opinions are my own etc., etc. I hope this helps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Steve A.
