In a recent posting in response to a rather long series of questions regarding the pros and cons of HP snakes v. Sun Sparc 2s, an ambiguity was left unresolved concerning whether the C compiler under HP-UX 8.0 is ANSI compliant. We haven't gotten our snakes yet, alas, but we are running HP-UX 7.0 on several machines. When invoked with the appropriate flag ( -a, I think) cc will indeed deal with ANSI C. I presume that HP will not take a step backward when moving to 8.0. Chris Walsh
