I have a hp2631a printer that i would like to connect to a standard rs232 port but unforunately do not have the information needed to make the cable. Currently the printer has a 12485-60006 edge type connector on it. Another problem is that this printer does not have a baud/parity option installed so i need to know what baud rate the printer runs at or if it uses some type of clock from the printer card in the cpu. If any one could send me information that will help me get the printer up or a diagram/chart that shows what the pins coming out the back of the printer are I would greatly appreciate it. I had to take a trip in the wayback machine for this one. The 12845-60006 is a cable that connects the 2631A with the 12845-60005 I/O card on the HP1000 (E/F Series). This is a parallel card, so it's no wonder you can't find the baud rate, parity etc. I think you can convert this to RS-232, but it will probably be cheaper/easier to buy a whole new printer. The parts you will need are: 02631-60376 $420 - RS232 PCA -or- 02631-69376 $290 - Remarketed 02631-60376 02631-60088 $210 - The front panel with the baud rate select, parity etc. 02631-60012 $125 - PCA to RS232 cable adaptor So, for $755 (or $625 if you choose the remarketed PCA), you can have a 10 year old 2400 baud printer.
