I need to find out how compatible the HPLJ III is with the HPLJ II. Will all file that print correctly on a HPLJ II print correctly on the HPLJ III? Thanks, Ken

No. I put together a little application running on a PC that uses GnuPlot to output graphics to the screen and to LJ. The LJ files will print fine on a LJ II, but are garbled a bit on LJ III. I believe I eliminated any possible serial interface/parallel interface/other configuration problems. Maybe GnuPlot just uses some obscure part of LJ II that is not implemented the same in LJ III (e.g. it does some bitmap stuff). I can uuencode and post a file if someone wants to check it out. I've printed a few hundred pages on a LaserJet III with WordPerfect 5.1 configured for a LJ II. Numerous soft fonts were used, along with font cartridges. Every page looked just like it would on a LJ II. This was all text (no graphics).
