flur@eecom.gatech.edu (Peter W. Flur) (05/07/91)
I ftp'ed the binaries and libraries from me10.lbl.gov and installed them
on an nfs server. I then mounted the /usr/bin/X11, /usr/lib/X11, and
/usr/include/X11 and also copied /usr/lib/lib*X* to one of the workstations.
X runs great with the R4 libraries until the machine is rebooted. I then
get the following message on the console:
INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly. Check for possible errors.
id: vue "/usr/lib/X11/vue/etc/vuelogin -nodaemon #HP-VUE invocant
The machine is up and running, but vuelogin is not properly spawned on the
console. I can get in from another machine with no problem. The interesting
thing is that if I don't mount the R4 libraries, the machine boots fine and
vuelogin comes up with no problem. I can then login, mount the R4 libraries,
and go from there---- until the machine reboots for any reason.
Does anyone know why this might be?
Peter
