They are taking my HP9000s720 away in order to give me a DECStation so that I can run OSF/1 and OSF DCE. I am really sorry to see it go; especially VUE. I was wondering, can I start an X server on the DECStation, set my DISPLAY on the 720 to point to the DECStation and run VUE on the 720 controling the screen real estate on the DECStation display? If I remember correctly, I had occasion to do someting similar with a 400 and a Mac II running exodus a few weeks ago. It was a little slow (perhaps the Mac ;-) but it did seem to work for what I was trying to do (running a few terms and all). Perhaps I was lucky, perhaps I was supported, but after all, is there really that much difference between trying to do what you ask, and doing the same thing with an Xterminal ;-? I have done this between two HP workstations by simply invoking the X server on the display system with "/usr/bin/X11/X :0 -query <VUE host>". This uses the xdmcp protocol and makes the display system act simply as an X terminal for the remote system. If your DECStation supports xdmcp you may be able to do something similar. Brian Cripe
